Salami Christmas Tree Pastry Sticks

Makes 8 Salami Christmas Trees

Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 jar of tomato sauce
  • 15-20 salami slices from our Salumibar
  • Tasty Cheese Block or Vegan Cheese Block
  • Skewer sticks
  • Mr Nick’s Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Shredded Cheese optional

Method:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 160°C (fan-forced).
  2. Prepare the Base: Lay one sheet of puff pastry flat on a clean surface. Spread a generous layer of tomato sauce over the entire surface, like you would on a pizza.
  3. Add Salami: Place salami slices evenly on top of the tomato sauce Optional: Add shredded cheese.
  4. Top with Puff Pastry: Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the top, covering the salami and sauce.
  5. Brush with Olive Oil: Gently brush olive oil over the top of the puff pastry to give it a nice golden finish when baking.
  6. Cut and Shape: Slice the pastry into long strips (about 1 inch wide). Zigzag the strips slightly, then thread a skewer stick through the center to form a Christmas tree shape.
  7. Bake: Arrange the skewer sticks on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 15 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed.
  8. Serve: Let the Christmas tree pastry sticks cool for a few minutes before serving and with a star cookie cutter, cut star shapes of cheese to place as decoration.
